Stretching
Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) and Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) are revolutionary and pain free methods of assisted stretching that create lasting changes in the body.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the practice of inserting incredibly thin, sterile, single-use needles into specific points on the body. Acupuncture is one part of a complete health care paradigm known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
Auricular Acupuncture
Auricular acupuncture is based on the Chinese theory that a microsystem of the entire body is represented on the outer ear. Ailments are treated by stimulating the surface of the ear with acupuncture needles.
Cupping
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which local suction is created on the skin through heat. As the air inside the cup cools, it contracts, forming a partial vacuum and drawing blood to that area.
Electroacupuncture
Electroacupuncture is a form of acupuncture in which a small electro current is passed between pairs of acupuncture needles. This helps to stimulate the muscles and aid in healing.
Food Therapy
Food Therapy and dietary advice is another important part of Chinese medicine. As part of your treatments, Hilary will suggest foods to add or subtract from your diet as well as certain food groups to focus on.
Guasha
Guasha is a healing technique in which a round-edged instrument is used to cause red petechiae called "sha" to appear on the skin. Sha is thought to improve circulation, soft tissue injuries, and illness.
Moxibustion
Acupuncture is often accompanied by moxibustion, which is the burning of cone-shaped preparations of Artemisia vulgaris (mugwart) on or near the skin.
Muscle Testing
Muscle Testing can be used to help identify, evaluate, and treat soft tissue injuries, and it helps Hilary more accurately locate the area of treatment when a muscle or tendon injury is suspected.
Oriental Herbal Medicine
Oriental Medicine, also known as Chinese Herbal Medicine, is the practice of using herbs (plants, stems, leaves, roots, etc.) in various combinations called formulas to address your specific condition.
Tui-Na (Chinese body work)
Tui-Na is a form of massage akin to acupressure (from which shiatsu evolved). Oriental massage is typically administered with the patient fully clothed and without the application of grease or oils.
